Why I Like to Shop at Wayfair for My Rentals

Wayfair is one of the world’s largest home retailers with over 30 million home products! You can find literally anything that you are looking for. I like that they offer name-brand, high-quality items at a variety of price points to suit your budget.

Throughout my years as a successful Airbnb host, I have bought so many home items from Wayfair, including the popular Wayfair sleep mattresses, dressers, bed frames, Polywood outdoor furniture, and more!

In addition to the great selection, I find the robust review system very helpful! Most items have hundreds or thousands of reviews full of valuable first-hand information and real-world photos, which is invaluable when selecting items for my vacation rental properties.

The product overview section is very helpful. It even shares the approximate time and effort required to assemble anything, weight capacities, detailed measurements, and more. This helps me get it right the first time and avoid extra stress when setting up my Airbnbs.

And shipping is free and fast on most items at Wayfair!

Top Wayfair Finds for Your Airbnb Rental Property

Here are some of my favorite Wayfair finds in various categories that would be perfect for short-term rental properties like Airbnb. I will include links to shop for each item directly after each photo of my Wayfair favorites in each category.

Airbnb Cabinets & Console Tables

A nice, high-quality, oversized cabinet under a flush-mounted TV is one of my favorite spots in a vacation rental. I look for cabinets with solid doors to store Airbnb games and sofa bed bedding.

Additionally, console tables are great space fillers in an oversized room. I keep them clutter-free and let guests use them for keys, phones, and other everyday items.

Here are some of my Wayfair favorites, and most come in a variety of colors!

Airbnb Bed Frames & Mattresses

For our very first rental condo, I bought a Wayfair Sleep mattress, and it’s so comfortable! You can choose from a variety, from inexpensive memory foam mattresses to top-rated hybrid mattresses.

For short-term rental bed frames, I try to look for wooden beds that are easy to keep clean, but I also love a good upholstered bed; just make sure you have a great upholstery cleaner to keep it fresh.

These days, a good platform bed frame is all you need for an Airbnb, and you usually don’t need a box spring. Just make sure to get a 10″-14″ deep mattress.

High Quality Dressers for Your Airbnb

Airbnb dressers are one place you don’t want to skimp. In most cases, I like them substantial enough to fill a big wall. I always put a mirror above them so the area can double as a place to get ready. Also, make sure to provide a large silicone mat for hot hair tools so your dresser doesn’t get damaged.

For a short-term rental, you’ll want high-quality dressers with easy-to-open drawers. I recommend lighter colors, if possible, to help the room feel bigger.

Nightstands for Airbnb Rentals

If you are short on space in your vacation rental, you can opt for small accent tables instead of large nightstands so that you can have the largest bed possible. I love the one below from Birch Lane. If you are furnishing a large bedroom, a nice larger set of nightstands will help fill the space.

TIP: Always have a nice outlet extender easily accessible near both sides of the bed for cellphones, watches, and headphones. Nobody wants to have to move a nightstand just to access an outlet.

Airbnb Kitchen Tables & Chairs

For kitchen tables and chairs, choose what best fits your space! For example, in my small studio, that Sauder table looks like a mini farmhouse and fills the spot nicely. On the other hand, a round table for four is best in this one-bedroom unit.

Regardless of style, as I mention in my main Airbnb dining tables and chairs post, which has many more options and things to think about, you need a seat for your maximum number of guests. This means that if you sleep 8, you should have a table with 8 chairs. Sometimes this isn’t possible, but if you have an Airbnb kitchen bar, you can count those stools as well. You can also include outdoor seating, especially for extra-large homes in warmer-weather destinations.

Wayfair does a great job recommending the perfect chairs for each table, which saves you a lot of guesswork. However, I would personally avoid upholstered dining chairs in a rental property, especially if you have a pool and people might sit on them with wet bottoms.

You’ll thank me later!

Airbnb Living Room Furniture

First things first!

You’ll need to decide if your living room is a good spot for a sofa bed. In my one-bedroom Airbnbs, we do have one because it’s a great option for families traveling with children. But if you have a large home, you really should plan to keep the living room open for gatherings. Think of how awkward it would be if 10 of your Airbnb guests had to stand around in the kitchen because another couple was still sleeping in the living room.

So, I wouldn’t put a sofa bed in a large rental property unless it was in a bonus room, basement, or loft area. Also, make sure you have blackout curtains anywhere that people will be sleeping, including living rooms with sleeper sofas.

For your Airbnb living room, you will want a nice sofa for your Airbnb, a sturdy cabinet (as I mentioned earlier), an accent chair or two, a coffee table, end tables, and often a good rug to tie it all together.

Home Accents & Decor for Rentals

Don’t overdo it with knickknacks! Those are just more things you have to worry about guests moving around and keeping clean.

I always like to add mirrors whenever possible to make my space look bigger. Always mount or secure a mirror to the wall. Don’t leave them freestanding on the floor if you plan to host children at your Airbnb.

I also always add coat racks and Airbnb hooks wherever possible. This is the number one thing my Airbnb guests rave about!
