Today, I am following up on my last post about deep cleaning your Airbnb during the off-season and highlighting my new favorite tool, the Bissell Little Green portable deep cleaner! Removing them was tough and took a lot of elbow grease. So, I pulled the trigger and picked up this portable spot cleaner / upholstery cleaning machine.
I am excited to use it at our Airbnbs and believe every Airbnb host should have one on hand. The price point is excellent, and it is very effective! But, until then, I have been using it at home on everything from our sectional to upholstered beds.

This portable spot upholstery cleaner is easy to use and fills the gap between true full-size carpet cleaners and hand scrubbing. For an Airbnb host, the Bissell Little Green is the most effective way to treat those inevitable marks that show up on the furniture, like red wine and tanning spray.
When setting up our Airbnbs, I initially opted for wooden bed frames as they are easy to wipe down. Since then, I have switched to the top-rated Zinus upholstered beds. They are lower profile, fill the space better, and make the place feel softer. However, they leave you open to stains, especially if you host families with young kids and potentially grimy hands.
The Bissell Little Green allows me to spot-treat and periodically clean the headboard. I can also clean the sofa and accent chairs and even the mattress as needed!

Setting Up Your Bissell Little Green
This portable upholstery cleaner arrives almost ready to use! All that you need to do is snap in a front host clip and snap/screw in the back hose holder. I did it in under a minute and was ready to go.
The Bissell Little Green does require a cleaning solution and comes with a small 8oz bottle of the Bissell Spot and Stain Cleaner with Febreeze. You can pick up more at Walmart, Target, or Amazon.
Using The Little Green Upholstery Cleaner
When you are ready to use the Bissell Little Green, you will use the clean water tank with a small amount of cleaner (to a marked line). Then, you fill it to the second line with warm water. That’s it!
To operate the Bissell Little Green, you simply press the on button and use the hand tool. This one comes with the 3″ tool, and you can also purchase additional tools.
The hand tool has a trigger that allows you to spray the solution directly onto the fabric, scrub, and suction up the dirt. I like that you can use it on a single isolated spot as needed or clean an entire sofa.
Yesterday, I did a spot on our white sectional, Abby’s headboard, and our entire main living room sectional. I am amazed at how dirty the water is!
In the photo below, you see the dirty water tank after cleaning Abby’s headboard. I was shocked! It’s a lot of dust and allergens built up over several years.
Once done, you simply remove the dirty water tank, dump it, and rinse it. The Bissell Little Green is easy to store with the power cord and host locked into place.
Does the Bissell Little Green Work Well?
Yes! After cleaning our main sectional, I didn’t take a photo of the dirty water, but it was so dark and cringy. Knowing that it pulled out so much grime and allergens made me feel good, and the couch smelled much better. It’s our gaming sofa, so it sees a lot of kids, food, and pets. This is the best upholstery cleaner on the market, considering all handheld portable options.
Airbnb hosts can benefit from having a Bissell Little Green on hand because it allows them to treat issues immediately and perform routine maintenance. Every Airbnb host strives to be a superhost and earn 5-star Airbnb reviews. It would be a shame to lose one over Cheeto finger stains on the throw pillows.
