Running an Airbnb means accepting that things will occasionally break or go missing. Your Airbnb dishes get chipped, glasses get dropped, and silverware has a way of disappearing between stays. That’s just part of operating a short-term rental, especially when you host a steady rotation of Airbnb guests!
Because of that, I don’t choose Airbnb dishes and silverware based on what looks the most stylish or high-end. I focus on sets that are affordable, durable enough for short-term rental use, and, most importantly, easy to replace if something inevitably breaks or is accidentally thrown away.

Being able to quickly reorder the same pieces without hunting through stores or ending up with mismatched sets makes hosting much less stressful.
In this Airbnb hosting blog post, I’m sharing the exact Airbnb dishes and Airbnb silverware I use and recommend, along with my strategy for buying extras upfront and choosing sets that stay in stock year-round.
This approach has saved me time, money, and frustration over the long run, and it’s one of those small hosting decisions that pays off over and over again.

Why Your Airbnb Dishes and Silverware Matter More Than You Think
The dishes and silverware you choose for your Airbnb take more abuse than almost anything else in your kitchen. They are used daily by different guests, washed constantly, and handled by kids, adults, and everyone in between.
This is one of those areas where intentional choices matter more than anything else! Durable materials and easy-to-replace sets of Airbnb silverware and dishes will make your life as an Airbnb host much easier over time.

Accidents happen, and I don’t like to nickel-and-dime my Airbnb guests. In fact, I want them to let me know if something breaks, primarily so that I can fix or replace it right away for the next guests. I don’t ever want them to feel like they have to hide something as basic as a broken wine glass!
Of course, if a guest truly damages something in my Airbnb, I may handle it differently.
I do everything I can to avoid mismatches in silverware and dish sets at my Airbnb. Why? Well, it just looks sloppy and is a very easy pain point to avoid. I always want to make the best first impression on my Airbnb guests and make sure they know how much I care about our rental properties.
My Favorite Airbnb Dishes from Target
Target is one of my go-to places for Airbnb dishes because the sets are easy to find and easy to reorder. That makes replacements simple when something breaks or when you want to add more place settings later.
What I Use: 16pc Porcelain Beaded Rim Dinnerware Set

I love this set of Airbnb dishes and recommend it for short-term rentals because they hold up well to frequent use and washing. They also have a clean, neutral look that works in most rentals.
One of the biggest advantages of buying dishes and silverware from places like Target and Amazon is consistency. Many sets stay in stock year-round, which makes it easier to replace broken items or add more settings later. I first bought this set years ago, and it is still in stock and ships quick!
I also have some Airbnb dishes from Amazon that are good options, including:
My Go-To Airbnb Silverware from Target
Silverware gets used constantly in an Airbnb and needs to handle frequent washing and everyday wear. You never want cheap-feeling Airbnb silverware either! Plus, silverware sets that are too lightweight or overly decorative tend to show wear quickly.
The silverware sets I use for short-term rentals are simple, affordable, and easy to reorder because you can buy them individually if needed. This keeps your kitchen silverware drawer consistent and avoids mismatched forks and spoons.
What I Use: Sussex Flatwear Set

As you can see, you can buy these Airbnb silverware sets from Target in 45-piece sets, 20-piece sets, and so on. They even sell 6-piece sets of individual silverware pieces and matching serving utensils.
I particularly like this Airbnb silverware from Target because again, I have been using it for years, and it is still in stock and readily available!
I also have some silverware sets from Amazon that are good options, including:
Why I Avoid Stores Like HomeGoods for Airbnb Dishes & Silverware
HomeGoods, TJMaxx, and similar stores are fun for decorating, but they are not ideal when furnishing a short-term rental’s most-used pieces. Inventory changes often, which makes it hard to replace broken pieces or add more settings later.
Often, you can find great deals and high-quality, unique silverware sets at HomeGoods. But, there are usually only one or two sets. It’s often not even enough to buy backups.
When something inevitably breaks or goes missing, you want to be able to reorder the same set without hunting through stores or ending up with mismatched dishes. Consistency makes turnovers easier, avoiding scrambling when things are missing, and keeps your Airbnb kitchen looking intentional.

How Many Dishes and Silverware Sets You Actually Need for an Airbnb?
Most hosts underestimate how many Airbnb dishes and silverware sets they should start with. In a short-term rental, items break, go missing, and wear out faster than they do in a normal home.
Why?
Because nobody cares for your rental as much as you do, or as much as people care for their own homes.
Buying extra from the beginning makes replacements easy and prevents last-minute shopping trips between guest stays. That is why these are among the top Airbnb essentials I recommend buying in multiples.
In your kitchen, you want at least as many full settings as the number of guests you host. That said, I recommend you double that. People don’t want to have to wash dishes between every single meal. From the start, I would buy at least a full set of Airbnb dishes and silverware, equal to the number of guests you host.
For example, if you sleep 8. I would recommend having 16 of each piece of flatware and dishware, with 8 additional pieces of each in the closet for your cleaners to easily replace them. That said, this is at a minimum. It never hurts to have even more!
In addition to offering standard dishes, I also include a set of melamine plates and melamine bowls. These don’t break as often, so I worry less about having extras. One set is fine, but if you have a lot of extra cabinet space, do two sets.

Adding Dishes and Silverware for Kids and Babies to Your Airbnb Rental
Beyond that, if your rental attracts families, your dishware needs to work for kids and babies, too. Lightweight and durable options are easier for little hands to use and less likely to break, which parents really appreciate!
Having a small set of kid-friendly or baby-friendly dishes, cups, and silverware also helps protect your main dishware and keeps your kitchen more functional for families.
I have a separate Airbnb hosting blog post about how to set up baby friendly Airbnb rental property that you may also enjoy!

Choosing the Best Airbnb Dishes and Silverware
Choosing the right dishes and silverware for your Airbnb doesn’t have to be something to overthink! Just purchase durable sets of Airbnb dishes and silverware that are easy to replace. Doing so will save you time and money in the long run!
I find that when you are intentional when setting up your Airbnb, you can better protect your peace, property, and profits in the long run. I take the same approach when choosing my Airbnb bedding, protecting my mattress, choosing pillows for our rentals, and so much more!

The other half of this blog is all about travel! If you are a new Airbnb host and worried about managing your Airbnb while traveling, don’t be! I travel almost half of the year, both domestically and internationally, and manage our four Airbnbs remotely from all over the world.
That said, we live just 90 minutes north of 30A in Northwest Florida, where our rentals are located. So when we are home, we always make sure to visit at least once a month or so to keep our short-term rentals in perfect condition. We also do a lot of deep cleaning and maintenance during the off-season, which is the winter on 30A!
