When setting up a new Airbnb rental property, it’s common to focus on the inside. However, in many vacation destinations, your outdoor spaces are just as important! So, today, I want to talk more about choosing the best outdoor furniture for Airbnb vacation rentals at Wayfair.

The Best Outdoor Furniture For Your Airbnb
First, I want to note that my four Airbnbs are condos with shared resort-style amenities. So, other than small balcony sets, I don’t have to furnish my outdoor areas. That said, a few years ago, we built a pool at our home, and I purchased great outdoor furniture for that. So, I will be using some of those photos here because, spoiler alert – I love Polywood furniture!

My Favorite Airbnb Outdoor Furniture At Wayfair
I buy all of my outdoor furniture at Wayfair because I really appreciate the free and fast shipping on those heavy items. Plus, their review system is great, offering me hundreds if not thousands of real-world reviews and even photos to aid in my decision-making.
In addition, I find the selection and pricing on most outdoor furniture to be best on Wayfair. This was very true when I purchased my Polywood loungers, accent tables, Adirondack chairs, and conversation tables a few years ago. And I have been so happy with those purchases. Living in southern Alabama, it gets hot, and all of my pieces still look brand new!
So, in this post, I am going to go through some of the main outdoor items you will need to consider purchasing for your Airbnb. These include:
- Polywood furniture
- Umbrellas for shade
- Fire pits
- Grills + accessories
- Rugs + accents
- Outdoor Games
Polywood Outdoor Furniture
I love Polywood furniture for many reasons. First, it’s durable and will last a very long time. Next, it’s heavy and sustainable, meaning that I never have to bring it in during storms. It also looks very high-end and gives off a resort-like feel.
Depending on your space, my favorite Polywood items are the Adirondack Chairs, conversation and dining tables, and Chaise Loungers for those with a pool or sunning area. There are a handful of styles for each, with slight differences, and they come in various colors. In the photos in this post, all of my Polywood pieces are Mahogany. And no, they don’t get hotter than the lighter colors. I am partial to the browns, tans, and whites as I think they look more upscale than the brighter colors.
The exact Polywood outdoor items I have are the following:

- Long Island Side Table (x 4)
- Vineyard Adirondack Chair (x 4)
- Round 37″ Conversation Table
I would highly recommend any of these pieces for the outdoor area at your short-term rental property. They are very comfortable, especially the table and four chairs. We initially planned to put a fire pit where the table is, and I initially bought the table as a placeholder. But we love that little area so much for morning coffee or evening cocktails that we left it as it is. I think this combination is perfect for an Airbnb!
I also think the Polywood outdoor dining sets are the most durable option on the market. Plus, they are very easy to clean between guests and keep looking new.
Do You Need Cushions For Polywood Loungers?
Yes! I did a lot of research and was surprised to see people say that you can go without them. In my opinion, these chairs are not going to be comfortable without some type of cushion.
We aren’t the type to bring them in when it rains, so they stay out 24/7. So, we are on our second full set of cushions. The grey-striped cushions that you see in my photos are from Wayfair and are a great fit for the Polywood Chaise Loungers.

These are such great quality for the price and have been very easy to clean. They come in 30+ colors and patterns, and I highly recommend them!
Outdoor Umbrellas For Rental Properties
If you are located in a warm-weather vacation destination and don’t have ample shade, I recommend a nice market umbrella. For rentals, I prefer the kind that cranks open and does not require a stool to insert a pin. And if your space is larger, don’t skimp! I would choose a 9-foot umbrella. The first one is the exact one you see in my photos.

And don’t forget a solid umbrella base. Consider whether your guests will want to move the umbrella around. If yes, buy a rolling umbrella base that won’t scratch the surface below it.
Fire Pits & Accessories
If you have ample outdoor space (away from trees) and can safely offer your guests an outdoor fire pit experience, go for it! I am partial to the Solo Stove as I think it helps keep the area neater in the long run. Plus, I find them feel safer for renters than large open fire pits.

Make sure you have a plan for wood! Will you have a steady supply on hand? Will you require them to bring their own? Would you sell optional add-on bundles? You may find it safer to go with one of the gas fire pits linked above. You will just need to make sure you have full propane tanks on hand.
Also, consider including accessories such as s’mores sticks or hot dog roasting skewers. This will help prevent guests from using your indoor cooking supplies outdoors!
Outdoor Grills For Airbnbs
An outdoor kitchen or grilling area is a great addition to a short-term rental. If you have the space to offer one, do it safely! I don’t think you have to provide anything high-end. Just a basic propane grill is sufficient. Just make sure you have ample propane on hand and a dedicated set of outdoor grilling utensils to avoid bringing your indoor kitchen items outside and causing excessive wear and tear.
Likewise, purchase a grill mat and have a set plan for cleaning the grill between guests. Do your cleaners offer this service?

Outdoor Rugs, Games Accessories, & More
While I never want you to go overboard, because the more you offer, the more you have to maintain, you may need new other accessories to pull it all together. If your space needs it, grab a nice outdoor rug at Wayfair.
I also really like outdoor games at an Airbnb! Think of easy additions such as bean bag toss, hook and ring, etc. Always have extra pieces on hand because they will go missing, and as I reiterate in my other posts, no one will take care of your place as well as you do! Specifically, have a dozen or more extra bean bags on hand for your cleaners to replace them as needed.
Avoid excess outdoor decor that will just accumulate dirt buildup. If you need to store any outdoor items, make sure to buy a high-quality outdoor deck box.
