Last month Abby went to Space Camp at the US Space and Rocket Center in Huntsville, Alabama.

We knew that she was going to have a blast and she did!  She is so brave!  This is the second time that she has gone to a sleep away camp without knowing a soul.   Jake and I made the drive up there with her and we enjoyed some time at the US Space and Rocket Center too.  In fact, we spent the whole week in Huntsville and didn’t even come come close to running out of things to do.  In our next YouTube video I am going to be sharing what Jake and I did to stay busy because I know a lot of other families decide to stay and are always looking for ideas!

So, speaking of YouTube, we have two videos up about her Space Camp experience.

We Just Dropped Abby off at Space Camp!  shares her drop of experience along with where she slept and a little bit of exploring the activities there!

Space Camp Recap is our newest video and shares her thoughts, some photos from the week and the graduation ceremony.  It totally made me cry.  It’s so inspirational!

Please give them a watch and leave her some comments!

Where is Space Camp?

Space Camp is at the US Space and Rocket Center in Huntville, AL.  The main “space camp” program is tailored toward 4th graders between the ages of 9 and 11.  They have several follow up camp options for older kids including robotics, aviation and more.   You can go as an individual and we also noticed several school groups there.  They have family camps too!  I did notice that their summer 2019 sessions are sold out but I wanted this opportunity on your radar for 2020!    You can read more about Space Camp here.

The US Space and Rocket Center is open to the public and has activities geared toward all ages.   They have a bunch of simulators as well as a planetarium.   There are so many artifacts from the Apollo missions and I would the whole space to be so family friendly!  It’s one of those places where I think adults get as much out of it as the kids!  The Spark!Lab was developed by the Smithsonian Institution’s Lemelson Center and was Jake’s favorite part.  So many opportunities for hands on learning.   They have a restaurant on site too!
