A couple of weeks ago I took the kids up to St. Louis to visit family. It was a much overdue trip and I was able to piggyback it with a girls weekend I had planned in Palm Springs! Abby, Jake and I flew from Dothan, AL to St. Louis on a Wednesday and had planned to stay until the following Tuesday. Due to a winter storm we ended up having to leave on Monday afternoon instead. Anyway, I was able to then fly to Palm Springs early Thursday morning and get back to St. Louis late Sunday night. I think that it worked out great for everyone because the kids got loved on so much by their grandparents, Aunts and cousins! They hit up so many great places including The Magic House, ice skating and more!
TRAVEL TIP: So, I am just now getting to know more about airline loyalty programs. We use all of the hotel ones but never end up traveling with one airline enough to earn anything of value. With DELTA being the only airline that flies out of Dothan and a major player in Atlanta I decided to get their AMEX Gold Card because it gives you – and the people flying with you – free checked luggage. At $30 a pop each way it has already payed for itself. The annual fee is free the first year and then $95/year after that. Anyway, we used it for basically everything over the past month and earned a big bonus so I already have enough points for a couple of free flights! I am excited about this and can’t wait to leverage our travel more in the future!
One of the downfalls of moving often is that we pretty much never live near family… except of course when we lived in the St. Louis area. Those of you you are lucky enough to live near family, make sure to love them hard. And for those who don’t, make sure to get together as often as possible! Time is precious and those memories are what really matter.
