So…. a couple of weekends ago we had a nice family movie night and after much scrolling we decided on Alice in Wonderland. The Johnny Depp version from what felt like a few years ago but I guess was seriously SIX years ago! I think they have seen the Disney version a time or two and I was secretly wanting to watch that 1985 version. I have some pretty strong memories of watching that as a child of the 80s.
After we ate spilled two bowls of popcorn all over we settled in and everyone got super into it. Abby was a roller coaster of emotions just like me. I can see us in 10 years snuggling up watching sappy movies and balling our eyes out. And Jake, sweet sweet Jake, all that he kept talking about was how cool it was that they painted the roses.
For days he kept asking if we can paint the roses. And by roses I mean any and every piece of nature in our backyard. I kept saying no but then I thought to myself… why can’t he? So, next time he asked I said Yes! We made a plan. We went and bought a new set of crayola finger paint and then went to the grocery store and bought a dozen white roses. We got home and he went straight out back to get started. But he only did one. That sweet boy wanted to save the rest and let Abby do it with him after school. So, that was the days they painted the roses. And they are the most beautiful roses that I have ever seen. Most of them are still sitting in a vase right here next to me.
So go… paint all of the roses! Have a nice weekend my friends!
(ps Jake designed this adorable jumpsuit all by himself at The Patchery!)
Love this Sarah! I’m going to go get roses today for my daughter to paint…what a great idea!! May I ask you what camera/lens’ you use now? I can see your pics are just getting better and better!!!!! Beautiful!!!!! 🙂
