The other day Jake and I were actually dancing around in the kitchen (to my beloved Jackson Browne Pandora station) and right in the moment the lyrics that I have heard hundreds of time grabbed a longer hold of me. Don’t let the sound of your own wheels drive you crazy. Isn’t that the truth? I seem to make a habit of surrounding myself with ‘busy work’ that honestly isn’t even important but it keeps me often too worked up to enjoy the little moments. It’s been on my mind for the past couple of days and then last night at dinner Abby (who has been an emotional wreck all week regarding a very loose front tooth and Jake trying to get at her birthday gifts) needed some loving. I pulled her onto my lap to hear about how hard everything is and then I found myself spewing out the above lyrics to her with a little grin over in Matt’s direction. But man, it’s the truth.
So, I guess this post is to serve two messages. (1) Try the Jackson Browne Pandora station. You will thank me later. (2) Let’s all try to relax a bit. That doesn’t mean a spa day or a nap. Just lighten up. Live in this moment. With your loved ones.
