So, this post is inspired by Criminal Minds because the above quote at the end of Season 5 Episode 7 has got me thinking.  And as usual I am an over thinker.  My mind is racing around social media, what we post and why we post it.  And honestly a blog is one in the same.  These are our online diaries.   Our time capsules.  Our memories.  And yes, everyone is watching, so I have to ask myself and all of you….  Are we writing for ourselves or writing for others? A actually applaud the mom that is bragging about her child’s straight A report card or the 40 pounds she lost.  It’s her life. Her accomplishments.  Her memories to keep.  Yes, people may judge.  Yes, jealousy is the armpit of social media.  But maybe if people don’t like those things they should either (a) bite their tongue or (b) unfollow.  At the same time though are we posting the things that are actually important to us?  Things that we would consider valuable even if no one was watching?   Make sure that you are writing your own story.  Enjoy reading about others but don’t write yours as only you want others to see it.

I am going to try harder to document our lives.  Posts that recall experiences and will later evoke memories.  Milestones that I want to remember.   My children’s changing smiles and growing bodies.  I’m trying to clean my feed of junk stories.  Seriously, Target Cartwheel, I’m talking to you.  Nobody cares if I am saving 5% on q-tips this week.   It’s nice to share stories that speak to you.  It’s ok to post your favorite outfits too!   But at the end of the, if nobody was watching, would you be writing the same story?

Enjoy this beautiful day my friends!  Then go share something wonderful about it.  It’s your life.  Your journal. Your story.

And don’t forget to enjoy reading everyone else’s stories.  Smile for their happiness.  Give encouragement when it looks needed.  Celebrate with them.  And I will leave you with what I have to tell my kids at least 5 times a day.  >> It’s not a race!
