I don’t know how this happened.  Abby is signed up for Kindergarten.  For Real.  And unlike the half day that we were prepared for in Kansas it is now full day everyday. I think we are both excited and a bit nervous.  I know that she will do great!

I feel like for the past few years I have been counting down the day until school starts.  When I will get a break from the chaos. Enjoy quiet time to myself.  Selfishly, someone else to entertain the kids all day.  But now that it is here I feel a little sad.

While the day to day grind was sometimes daunting we had so much freedom.  Our planner was always empty.  We did what we wanted.  Everyday was our own little adventure.

Now, someone else will get her all day.  To hear those great ideas and grin at that crazy smile.  I hope that she fills the classroom with her infectious energy.  That she comes home every day even better than the day before.

All I know is that we have three weeks and one day until school starts.  We need to enjoy every single minute of it.

Let the wild rumpus begin!

But first some quick pics to remember the day we signed her up for Kindergarten.  Not to be confused with the upcoming day she starts Kindergarten. LOL  That one will probably require a novel.

And thank you sweet baby Jesus –> No uniforms.

  1. We started last week. My niece started today. Kindergarten is different for half day and full day. Whichever needs food asap when they get out. Shoes they can run. Label everything. Today I had to deal with possibly not being invited to a birthday party. That was rough. Too young to say f*** them. Their loss. Emailing your teacher is usually not as good as face to face if you need a response today.
Learn the common core they are national standards for learning.

  2. I have one starting kindergarten after Labor day, full day as well. I think I am ready and he is definitely ready he missed the cut off by a day last year. My daughter will be a junior in high school, right now I am more worried about getting her graduated and into some type of college. What I am not looking forward to is his homework, I’ll miss all the art projects, and am already prepared to start getting notes, emails or phone calls from the teacher that he talks too much (or stated is some type of more positive description). Also I do remember my daughter coming home and looking like she had laid down and rolled all over the blacktop.

  3. Summer has gone by way to fast!! Wishing we did not start school until after labor day, we will begin mid August. For us she’ll be going a half a day, and her sister is going to pre-k a half a day so it works out really, really well. I’m happy we’ll have mornings to do what we want together! Being only half the day I hope it doesn’t have a big impact with learning, or the friends she’ll have. I have high hopes for her as she starts kindergarten. She just finished two years of preschool , in her class she had only four other little girls to play with. Half the time she would play with the boys more then girls. The girls were all so different from each other. It made me sad most the time hearing she wasn’t meshing so well with the other girls. It was usually one who led the others. Hoping she will click alot better making new friends. I read Kristen’s comment, that’s got to be tough. I know at the preschool we went to you were not allowed to send invites to school unless it was for everyone, which is the way I think it should be. I’m guessing though most of us were not invited to all the parties when we were growing up, which can help you explain that your friends change all the time, and who might be your best friend this year, it could change the next. You are her biggest influence, and your words matter more then anyone else.

**I love the picture where she is standing in the hallway at the school!!

    1. I was mentally prepared for that half day in Kansas for sure! I am kind of kin denial that my little friend will be gone all day everyday now! I agree about invites and all of that. I hope to teach Abby great things about friendship. How dynamic it is and all of that. And thanks! I love that picture too!
