We have been busy making so many memories lately and hopefully I can catch up on posting them to the blog soon! It’s funny how life with children can be. Sometimes the biggest, epic adventures leave you wanting more while the little unexpected ones give you soul a much needed boost.
Monday started out like any other day except I had to keep up my end of a bargain and drive south to Monkey Joe’s bounce houses. PS: Did I ever share what happened last time we went there? Well, I could NOT find Jake anywhere and was looking in all of the bounce houses. I glanced past the party room and thought ‘nah’. But then on my second circle around I went up to the window and looked in. Sure enough Jake was sitting at the table with 20 other kids, eating cake and celebrating Ariana’s 5th birthday party. Which is cool except for the part where we do not know Ariana. LOL. I awkwardly popped in there and grabbed him. He had no idea how funny the situation was. I still laugh about it to this day! Anyway… we spend a couple solid hours there and grabbed some lunch.
Then much to their dismay I said “let’s go to the Mall”. First of all, I don’t know the last time I was in a mall. It has to have been at least a year or quite possibly a year and half. And I had not been in THIS specific mall in over 15 years. Since, high school. It’s funny how most stores were in the exact same place. And how time has make this one look smaller… not as grand as it seemed back when I brought my first paycheck there over half a lifetime ago. But somehow we spent 7 full hours there. We became Mall rats.
I guess that is the purpose of this post. LOL. I wanted to share how much fun we had! Both kids did the jumpy thing for the first time ever. We roamed around a bit. Both kids actually looked at stuff in stores. Jake was so excited to order his own Sbarro pizza and push the tray down the counter. We did the train twice and the carousel three times! We pumped the claw game full of quarters. (Dear whoever decided to put Beanie Boos in there. You clearly don’t have a 6 year old daughter). Then we put more and more quarters in there until we FINALLY won one. Thank you Jesus.
Then I made the deal of the Century. They got Build A Bears and I got a chair massage. Yep. Basically I paid $75 for a chair massage and two stuffed animals. But it was so worth it! I have a weakness for these mall massages. I mean $12 for a little 15 minute slice of heaven. Yes please. When Abby was an infant I used to go to the mall often, walk her around until she fell asleep and then park her next to the chair while I got a massage. Then she grew, one turned into two and I was sidelined for years. Until now. They sat there. Yep, in the waiting chairs. And I got a massage. I have reached the golden years of parenting.
Then we ate ChikFilA in the car and drove home. So, that’s it. We had a great day. And in one of the last places that I expected!
