So, I have been thinking about this a lot lately…
Why does it seem to take a tragedy to get people to really live?
It’s once they beat cancer that someone is ready to embrace everything around them. It often takes the loss of a loved one for someone to find out how much strength they really have. A brush with fate can shake up your world and leave you ready to live with abandon.
I feel like I dodged a bullet this year. I just decided one day to let go of NewDayNewDeals before it killed me. (more here) It was weighing me down and tainting my day to day life. There was a pretty good chance that I would have kept on doing it, spending years wasting away my time and money. Then somewhere along the line something awful would happen. I would have dropped that blog like a hotcake knowing all too well how unimportant it was in the grand scheme of life. I would have never looked back.
I am glad that something big didn’t have to happen. I somehow heard God tell me that I must stop. I listened for once. And I’m so glad I did.
So, I feel like I have taken back my life. I am more present with my children, less angry with my husband and honestly feel like I don’t have this senseless weight on my shoulders. My only regret is that I let it consume so much time over the past 4 years.
Do you have something holding you back?
Do you just feel like you need to live more?
Wonder if there is more out there or that you could benefit with less?
So, don’t wait for something terrible to happen. Live the life that you want to live right now. Figure out what is important to you and make it happen. Life is short. Kids grow fast. Most people regret things they didn’t do more that what they did. The Internet will be just fine without you. Have real conversations. Look people in the eye. Listen. Laugh. See things. Go places. Snuggle. Love.
Consider this your reality check.
When people gather to celebrate you at the end of your life what are they going to say? Is that how you want to be remembered?
Make your own legacy! And while your at it… Make it a great one!
