Matilda Jane. Zulily. Boom.

So, unless you live on Mars you probably know that Matilda Jane will be at Zulily tomorrow.  This makes me smile.  And not just because I love both.  It makes me smile and think back on the past few years.  Abby.  Friendship. Growing up Matilda Jane. <insert tears, because mine are already flowing>

The last time that Matilda Jane was on Zulily was back in September 2011.  Over three years ago.  It was that week that I bought my first Matilda Jane on Ebay.  Then grabbed a bunch at Zulily.  A week later me and my friend Katya discovered the chat rooms and buy/sell/trade boards.  Life changed.  Yep.  All because I bought that Field Trip Goodie tee.  I mean… so cute!

My love for the company grew at the same exponential rate as Abby’s closet did.  I made friends who loved the brand.  Abby wore it almost daily.  It was fun to collect.  I discovered the world of Platinum.  I got invited into secret Matilda Jane clubs.  And bought more and more hangers.

I learned about Art Fair.  Slept on the sidewalk for my first one.  Put faces with profile pics.  Brushed shoulders with people who live in Internet infamy.  Shared a room with my now close friend Katya.  I have been a Jane for more shows that I could count.  Emailed my trunkkeeper so many times.  Ran giveaways for years.  I still remember who won my first Matilda Jane spread the love giveaway back in December 2011 and watching her love for Matilda Jane grow.

I have moved twice since I discovered Matilda Jane.  Both times quickly connecting with other Matilda Jane fans in the area via the internet.  I invited Matilda Jane strangers into my home when they move into town (Amy, I am looking at you.)  We’ve had playdates and photoshoots.  The memories are endless.

At my second Art Fair, desperate for first dibs, I paid one trillion dollars (kind of not joking) for a ticket to the Mightly Acorns dinner to take advantage of the early shopping.  I left there impacted forever.  I thought daily about those kids in Kitale.  We sponsored sweet Selvine.

I watched Denise’s public battle with Cancer and saw her emerge from it even a better person than before, stepping back and focusing wholly on charity work and her family.  Her passion rubs off on the fans.  I have seen so many band together to help others.  To work as a greater whole.

All in all I have been inspired.  It’s been a huge part of my life.  My blog.  My laundry room.  My family.  And it all started over three years ago on Zulily.

The clothes are just clothes.  I am pretty sure they are coated in a blend of fairy dust, unicorn sweat and crack cocaine.  But, I wouldn’t have changed a thing.  Life is good my friends.  And our girl’s  sure look cute!

  1. Oh, Sarah… :0)
Our daughter is turning 3 at the end of the year. We found Matilda Jane right after she was born and having been making her childhood memories in it ever since. Reading this and crying (LOL), it is so nice to know others are out there who feel the same. We have followed you for years and always love your sincerity (and often humor) and wish you and Abby many more special years enjoying MJ together :0)

  2. Sarah!! You’re amazing!! I’m crying. I’m sooo grateful for you! I welcome the million emails and adore every pic of Abby in her MJC. Thanks for letting me be a part of your unicorn, fairy dust, crack world!! Xoxo- Jane.

  3. While attending one of my sons basketball game there was this little girl that had the cutest most unique outfit I had ever seen. I instantly approached her mom who told me about Matilda Jane and so when I got home I checked Out the website I was compelled by your mission and felt intrigued to help however I can. My daughter who is 3 gets tons of comments from people about her Matilda Jane outfits. Thanks for making clothes for little girl that are good and wholesome I think they teach girls they can be cute and don’t have to compromise skin in doing so.

  4. I fell in love with MJ back in July 09, bought my first line pieces when Gypsy Blue came out. Unfortunately didn’t feel the love from my TK and didn’t have FB then so I kinda forgot about it. Then Feb 2013 came around and fate brought me and MJC back together. I met my TK the day after she became Delaware’s first in the drive thru at my pharmacy. Our closet is since bursting with MJ and keeping my little girls little just awhile longer =)

  5. Oh Matilda Jane walked right into my classroom 5 years ago on the sweetest little third grade girl. I was inspecting that dress and found the famous brown tag! I did some research and have been hooked ever since. My daughter was only 2 then and 5 years later we are still going strong with our love for Matilda Jane!
