So, something has been bothering me for quite a while and kind of actually makes me not want to visit social media each day.

Since when did posting something onto social media become a open license for others to criticize or critique you?

I am all for constructive criticism but there is a time and a place for it and primarily when it is asked for.

It seems like I can’t scroll three seconds without seeing (a) people making fun of what others post or (b) people leaving rude and snarky comments on other people’s posts.  I hate that the Internet has been a place where it is all too easy for this type of behavior.  Where, from sitting behind a computer, it is easy mock one another or insert your opinions and thoughts on something where they weren’t requested.

I was always taught that ‘if you don’t have anything nice to say then don’t say it at all.’   And I think this is an important value to pass on to our children because yes, there will always be people who are bullies or just plain old mean, but the real problem ensues when others thing that is it okay to join in and gang up to bring another person’s spirit down.

It’s okay to bight your tongue sometimes.  I see many bizarre things when scrolling around social media but they don’t always have to be the subject of debate or mockery.

Like for example,  if I want to post a picture of Abby with a giant flower on her head.  And you don’t like big yellow flowers.  Who cares?  I do and I didn’t ask you.  Remember that if people are taking the time to post stuff online then chances are that they are probably proud of it.  So sit on your hands, chuckle to yourself and let them have their moment.  Unless of course they don’t have their baby properly buckled in their carseat.  In that case.  Go get ’em tiger.  Just kidding.  Send them a nice PM if you are legitimately concerned about well being.
