April Showers bring May Flowers

Yesterday we rang in the month of May!  I clearly remember May 1st as a child.  We would celebrate May Day by picking flowers from our neighbors yards and then ringing the doorbell and handing them to whoever answered.  Around the world May Day is a welcoming to Spring weather and the new life it brings.

I love this time of year!  The excitement of an upcoming summer puts a little extra pop in my step.   I love planning summer vacations and camps.  I am most excited for the kids to have a true summer vacation feel.  The last couple years in California we didn’t have a “neighborhood” like we have found here in Alabama.  Kids play outside every day after school until dark.   The sidewalks are filled with kids on bikes.  You can hear games of Marco Polo and Ghosts in the Graveyard at dusk.  And sleepovers on repeat.  These are the glory years of childhood!  That new found freedom, blossoming friendships, vivid memories and ice cream trucks.

It makes me teary eyed thinking about how happy I am that our journey led us here to Southern Alabama and to this lovely community!  Anyway… three cheers for the month of May!

April Showers bring May Flowers.  Or maybe April busyness brings us May to just take a deep breath.

April had us on the road for over half the month with trips to Dallas, Huntsville, Panama City Beach and Santa Rosa Beach.  I have some fun blog posts and great You Tube content coming your way soon!   This May we are taking a trip to the Great Smokey Mountains – Gatlinburg / Pigeon Forge area.  I have never been so I am super excited about that!  If you have any suggestions on things to do or places to eat please drop a comment on this post!

In other news, I joined Orangetheory this week and am super motivated to get back into better shape!  The kids and I are trying hard to wrap up a lot of our curriculum for this year.  I am busy cleaning closets and selling TONS of outgrown clothes over on my resale page on Instagram.    Matt is going to start contributing to the blog and wrote his first post yesterday!  If you have any topic suggestions for him please leave them here! We are in the middle of planting a garden too!  And yesterday we went to a local farm just minutes from our house and picked peaches!  I feel so lucky to have Aplin Farms just a mile or two away.  We have been popping in weekly for all of our seasonal produce!

(PS: I got Abby’s dress in my last Blu Pony Vintage Mystery Bag!  I think they have some more available here!)
