In order to be a successful Airbnb host and earn 5-star Airbnb reviews, you need to anticipate your guests’ needs. This is what separates top Airbnb hosts from the average ones. So, today, I want to talk about one small way that you can show you care: by providing a nice Airbnb first aid kit in your short-term rental property.
Airbnb First Aid Kit
This seems like a no-brainer, but you would be surprised how few Airbnbs include a first aid kit. As you know, we travel very often, and when we stay on vacation rentals, they rarely have one available. We do travel with our own small first aid pouch, but I know many novice travelers don’t.
So, set yourself apart and show you care by providing a first aid kit in your Airbnb rental. Why? Here are a few reasons!

Benefits Of Having A First Aid Kit In Your Airbnb
First, if a guest does get injured, you will literally save the day by having band-aids and ointment on hand. This is especially important if your Airbnb rental property is located in an adventurous outdoor location. But, even if it’s not, children fall and skin their knees anywhere. Your guests will appreciate having a quality emergency kit with first aid items like antibiotic ointment.
Second, providing bandaids for your guests helps avoid bloodstains on your Airbnb bedding and towels, saving you money in the long run. A small razor knick or a scratched-up bug bite could easily ruin a full set of sheets. Having bandaids and gauze pads easily accessible helps you just as much as they do.
The Best Airbnb First Aid Kits
The great news is that you can get a complete first aid kit, perfect for an Airbnb, for well under $20! Most of these essential first aid kits come in a nice hard case and are full of essential medical products.
My recommendation is the top-rated Johnson & Johnson 160-piece All-Purpose Portable Compact First Aid Kit. It has pretty much everything you’ll need for scrapes, cuts, burns, and bites.
At our 30A Airbnb rentals, we store ours under the kitchen sink or in the bathroom. Depending on the size of your rental, you should determine the best location to store your Airbnb first aid kit and make sure its location is mentioned in your Airbnb House Manual. If you have a large rental home, consider purchasing one per floor or one for each bathroom.

Additionally, when you check in on your Airbnb or are doing your off-season deep cleaning, make sure to open and check the supplies. You will likely want to either add more bandaids from time to time or simply put a fresh first aid kit in there every so often. You will also likely find that they use up the Tylenol quickly. I would recommend purchasing more of those and adding several to your first aid kit.

Other Airbnb Safety Essentials
Here are some other safety items that you need to keep in mind and have available for your guests.
Poison Control
In addition to providing an Airbnb first aid kit, you should have the local poison control number on hand. You can even write this on the inside of your first aid kit or include it in your House Manual. But if you can get your hands on a magnet from your local emergency resources, that is even better!
Additionally, make sure you know where the nearest emergency room is. While I have never had a guest ask for this, you may, and I want you to be prepared.
Baby Safety Items
If you have created and advertised a baby-friendly Airbnb, you may also want to include a baby first aid kit complete with tweezers, nail clippers, a thermometer, etc. While most of your guests may travel with these items, it’s very thoughtful to have them on hand for the guests that don’t.

Also, consider having some baby-proofing items available for guests to use as needed. It is much easier on you if they can safely lock cabinets that it is for your to have to rearrange everything after they move items up and into higher cabinets.

Fire Safety At Your Airbnb
You should have a new working fire extinguisher in your Airbnb kitchen and near any outdoor cooking area. Also, make sure your smoke detectors and fire alarms are working. If your property uses natural gas, make sure to have working carbon monoxide detectors in place.
