Earlier this week, I got the chance to visit Flyover Las Vegas and try out all three of their immersive flying experiences. I have to say that I was impressed! I had the best time learning more about Flyover and am excited to share it with you today.   I was hosted by Flyover for this experience, but all opinions and photos are my own.

This is one of the most unique and family-friendly things to do on the Las Vegas Strip. So, add it to your Las Vegas itinerary!

Visiting Flyover Las Vegas

In this post, I will share everything you need to know about Flyover in Las Vegas, including the exact location, what to expect, fun details about how these shows are created, Flyover Las Vegas ticket information, and more!

Flyover is not just a ride and is so much more than a show. It’s a fully immersive flying ride where people can experience what it’s like to fly. And, they can do so over some of the most beautiful locations in the world.

So, if you are looking for a family-friendly, off-the-beaten-path Las Vegas activity, this post is for you!

Location: Flyover on the Las Vegas Strip

This Las Vegas attraction is conveniently located on the Las Vegas Strip, adjacent to the Hard Rock Cafe. The MGM Grand, Park MGM, Aria, and New York New York hotels are adjacent, and I find this area to be the most family-friendly part of the strip.

To get there, you can walk, take the Las Vegas monorail to the MGM Grand stop, take a rideshare, or drive yourself and park in the Showcase Mall Parking Garage.

What is Flyover Las Vegas like?

As I mentioned above, Flyover is so much more than a ride or a show. It’s an experience that awakens all of your senses! You will feel the seats move throughout the ride, cool wind mist across your face as you fly over water and snow, and even invigorating aromas as you soar above the land.

The Flyover Las Vegas trailer video will give you a good feel for what the experience is like.

The entire Flyover experience takes approximately 30 minutes from start to finish. This includes the 8-10 minute flying experience, and preshows in the holding area that I found very engaging and interesting. I loved how the Iceland movie pre-show touched on the Trolls’ lore that runs deep in the culture there.

As a mom of two teenagers, I know that this is one of those experiences that the entire family will enjoy and appreciate—and that is never easy to find!

How Are the Flyover Shows Created?

The magic of the Flyover experience is that everything is real. No AI or CGI is used in the production of the videos. The three shown in Las Vegas were filmed entirely from helicopters and some of their other locations include drone footage. In fact, when I was telling my friends about this awesome experience, one of them told me that her cousin was actually one of the drone pilots for the new Flyover Chicago at Navy Pier.

This means that the rivers and mountains that you see are exactly as you’d find them in person. Speaking of people, everyone you see in the shows is a real person. Flyover even partnered with Red Bull athletes for some of the extreme sporting footage that you see.

I was impressed to hear how closely the production teams worked with the local community to create such an honest and inspiring video showcasing that location. These places came to life on the 52′ spherical screen!

At this point, you may think that this sounds much like a beloved theme park ride where you soar above the world. And yes, it’s a similar concept. In fact, a former Disney Imagineer, Rick Rothschild. helped develop Flyover Las Vegas.

No corner was cut when creating this new Las Vegas attraction! The facility is as wonderful as the experience. When the clean air and fresh smells surround you as you walk in, you’ll immediately forget that you are even in Las Vegas—I know I did!

Now, let’s talk about the shows themselves because they were incredible.

Flyover Las Vegas Shows

There are currently three shows at the Flyover Las Vegas location. They are all unique and fantastic in their own way.

  • Wonders of the American West
  • Windborn: Call of the Canadian Rockies
  • Legendary Iceland: Landscapes and Lore

The theme for each starts the moment you enter the first holding room and doesn’t end and ends when you leave the gift shop with any souvenirs that you are inspired to purchase. But in reality, those incredible views will be something you think about for a long time!

Wonders of the American West

This is the flagship Flyover show for the Las Vegas location. As someone who has lived much of her life in Washington State and California and spent a lot of time exploring the Western United States, I spotted so many familiar locations. They left me feeling both sentimental and inspired to go back for a visit!

In Wonders of the American West, you will fly over places like:

  • San Fransico (CA)
  • Las Vegas (NV)
  • Goldfield Ghost Town (AZ)
  • Grand Canyon West (AZ)
  • Roosevelt Dam (AZ)
  • Monument Valley (AZ)
  • Shiprock (NM)
  • Animas River (CO)
  • Woods Lake (CO)
  • Moab (UT)
  • Factory Butte (UT)
  • Bonneville Salt Flats (UT)
  • Grand Prismatic (WY)
  • Shoshone Geyser Basin (WY)
  • Bozeman (MT)
  • Gardiner (MT)
  • Mount Jefferson (OR)
  • and more

I loved following the waterskier at Fallen Leaf Lake in California and feeling the mist of water across my face as we got closer behind them. It is hard not to appreciate the beauty of the American West when experiencing it from a bird’s-eye view.

Windborn: Call of the Canadian Rockies

I have never been to the Canadian Rockies, but the incredible visuals on Windborn made me want to plan a trip.

In Call of the Canadian Rockies, you will fly over places like:

  • Mount Fraser
  • Hooker Glacier
  • Shackleton Glacier
  • Mount Somervell & Tsar Mountain
  • Chatter Creek
  • Lake O’Hara & Schaffer Lake
  • Curtain Call
  • Maligne Lake
  • Fortress Mountain
  • The Saskatchewan River
  • Banff National Park
  • Mount Minos
  • Kananaskis County
  • The Prince of Whales Hotel
  • and more

Jake has been asking to visit a cold-weather destination, and Pursuit Collection (owner of Flyover) has some incredible travel experiences available in Canada, Alaska, and beyond. I have added these to my bucket list!

Legendary Iceland: Landscapes and Lore

On our third Flyover experience this week, we soared over the stunning landscapes of Iceland. We even experienced fireworks from above in Reykjavik. But this video took us way beyond that popular Iceland community.

We got off the beaten path and experienced a variety of seasons in places like:

  • Aldeyjarfoss
  • Skaftafell
  • Hvannadalshnjuker
  • Vestrahorn
  • Hofsa
  • Horgarsveit
  • Gjain
  • and so many more

I particularly loved the pre-show video experience for the Iceland show. It pulled from the lore of Trolls engrained in Iceland’s history. I said it before, but the pre-shows were really captivating and added to the Flyover experience!  Check out an Instagram reel that I made about this show here!

Tickets For Flyover Las Vegas

You can purchase Flyover Las Vegas tickets in person at the ticket office or in advance. This attraction is open to all ages as long as the participant is a minimum of 40″ tall. Additionally, this experience is wheelchair accessible with a ramp leading up to either the ride itself if one can get out of the chair or a dedicated wheelchair viewing area.

Tickets for Flyover in Las Vegas can be purchased for one show or two shows or bundled with drinks from The Lost Cactus Bar. I’ll tell you more about that in a minute!

Flyover is also included in the Las Vegas Go City Pass and is valid for one ride on Wonders of the American West. This pass includes quite a few Las Vegas attractions and is worth checking out if you want to do and see as much as possible during your stay.

The Lost Cactus Bar

Before wrapping up, I want to highlight the fantastic bar at Flyover Las Vegas: The Lost Cactus. The cocktails (and mocktails) at The Lost Cactus are themed after the experiences themselves.   And as I mentioned above, you can purchase combo tickets that include one of these drinks.

These craft cocktails are really fun to enjoy before or after your Flyover experience (or both). It’s easy to forget that you are even in Las Vegas with the “starlit” sky, and it sure beats a smoky casino bar!

Here are a few photos I took of the cocktails so that you know what to expect. I am still dreaming about that smoked Old Fashioned. The blue drink is called Iceland’s Fire and Ice and is based off of the northern lights and volcanos!

The Gift Shop at Flyover

And lastly, since this is a family friendly flying experience, I want to mention that the gift shop is really great. Las Vegas is filled with cheap, overpriced souvenirs, but this gift shop is different. It’s curated really well and full of items from stuffed animals to books that build upon what you saw during your flying experience.

So, maybe wait to buy your souvenirs until you visit Flyover Las Vegas!

Plan Your Visit to Flyover Las Vegas

I hope you get the chance to experience Flyover Las Vegas for yourself! This fantastic family-friendly adventure is both entertaining and inspiring, so it’s no wonder there are so many great Flyover Las Vegas reviews out there! It’s one of the best flying rides out there and it’s really fun flying over Las Vegas in Wonders of the American West.

And if you have been, leave me a comment on this post to let me know what you thought of your Flyover Las Vegas flight! Where did you take your flight over?
