On our recent trip to Europe, we spent two days in Brussels on our journey from Paris to Amsterdam. We had a wonderful stay at the Hotel Indigo Brussels City, an IHG hotel. Since I was able to snap quite a few photos of the property, I wanted to write up a dedicated blog post and short review of this hotel.
We stay at Hotel Indigo properties quite often! We love the hip ambiance and amenities they offer, and usually at a budget-friendly price point.
Hotel Indigo Brussels
The Hotel Indigo Brussels blends contemporary design, tasty food and drinks, and convenient proximity to the train stations and Brussels’ main attractions, such as Grand Place. Our stay here was just what we were looking for. And if you have ever planned a trip to Europe, you know how difficult it can be to find hotel rooms that accommodate a family of four.
So, let me share our experience, highlighting the hotel’s beautiful decor through a series of photographs and its convenient location in the heart of the city, yet away from the crowds.
Hotel Indigo Brussels Location & Room Choices
This hotel is located in northeast Brussels, near the Rogier Metro Station. It is adjacent to the botanical gardens – Jardin botanique de Bruxelles.
The Hotel Indigo is less than a mile away from the heart of the city and places like Grand Place and Choco-Story, allowing you to escape from the crowds while you rest. You can walk to the hustle and bustle in under 15 minutes. Stroll along the popular Rue Nueve shopping district or take the metro from Rogier Station to the Grand Place Station.
If you want to venture out further, as we did on our day trip to Bruges, the Brussel-Noord Train Station is just a few blocks away, allowing you access to many of Belgium’s intercity trains!

Booking.comA Variety of Room Types at the Hotel Indigo Brussels
We are relatively loyal to the IHG One Rewards program. We enjoy utilizing our Diamond status for free breakfast and sometimes redeeming points to stay at these hotels. We paid cash for this hotel because the rate was so low – a total of $450 for two nights.
But, one of the main reasons we chose to stay at The Hotel Indigo Brussels was because they had rooms that could accommodate a family of four. Besides, we were only staying for two nights before moving on to Amsterdam, so we didn’t need much extra space, just room to sleep.
We stayed in a King Bed Premium With Sofa Bed room. The sofa bed was already made up for us when we arrived! It had ample room for our 4 carry-on suitcases and backpacks and was just what we needed.
All rooms at this Hotel Indigo location are fully refurbished with botanical-inspired decor. There are a variety of other room types, including:
- Twin Standard (sleeps 1)
- 2 Twin Standard (sleeps 2)
- Queen Standard (sleeps 2)
- King Bed Premium with Sofa Bed (sleeps 4)
- 2 Twin Beds Premium with Sofa Bed (sleeps 3)
- King Suite 1 Bedroom with Living Area (sleeps 3)
All rooms feature a plush bed and are fully equipped with all comforts you need including free wifi. Each has a glass water bottle you can refill at the water fountains on each floor. There is a genuine focus on sustainable travel at the Hotel Indigo Brussels.
Charming Decor That Wows: A Look Inside the Hotel Indigo Brussels
Upon stepping into Hotel Indigo Brussels, we were immediately struck by its captivating decor. Inspired by the Jardin botanique de Bruxelles (botanical gardens) next door, the property is updated and designed with tropical, herbal, and floral themes. The hotel effortlessly combines modern elegance with hints of local charm, creating a unique and inviting atmosphere.
From the moment you enter the lobby, you are greeted by vibrant colors, artistic touches, and contemporary furnishings that exude comfort and style. Even the employees are donning fun floral shirts.
Serra: Hotel Indigo Brussels Food and Drink
One of the highlights of our stay was the excellent food and beverage options at Hotel Indigo Brussels. The hotel has a great restaurant Serra – with an Urban Picnic section and Garden Kitchen area.
First, adjacent to the front entrance and boasting a charming outdoor courtyard, Serra Urban Picnic offers grab-and-go food and drink options and lunch and dinner options. Coffee is available all day, and the bar serves a wonderful selection of drinks, including renowned Belgian beers.
Also located on the ground floor, you will find Serra’s Garden Kitchen. Here you can enjoy breakfast seven days a week and lunch/dinner five days a week. Menu items feature many local flavors emphasizing organic and natural ingredients. The restaurant is charming, with a casual vibe and lush green botanical surroundings.
Hotel Indigo Brussels City: And Easy Stroll to Grand Place
One of the most significant advantages of Hotel Indigo Brussels is its close-but-not-too-close location within walking distance of the famous Grand Place and other popular Belgium destinations. A quick stroll through the streets of Brussels will take you directly to this UNESCO World Heritage site.
As you approach, the striking architecture and ornate buildings will leave you in awe. Explore the vibrant square, marvel at the beautifully crafted guild halls, and take in the vibrant atmosphere of this historical landmark. Again, enjoy immersing yourself in the heart of the city’s rich cultural heritage.
Similarly, some people try to stay in this area when visiting Brussels. But, we were one-and-done after an afternoon here. To be honest, it is quite busy. Furthermore, it’s primarily an area to look around and eat/drink.
Seamless Access to the Train Stations
Hotel Indigo Brussels offers effortless access to the train metro station for travelers looking to explore beyond the immediate city center. In fact, after we arrived at Brussels-Midi Station via Thalys Train from Paris, we hopped on the Brussels 4 train to Rogier station. We emerged from the station, and the Hotel Indigo was right in front of our eyes!
Located just outside the hotel, the Brussels Rogier metro station provides convenient connectivity to various attractions and neighborhoods throughout Brussels. Hop on a train and venture to the European Quarter, home to the iconic Atomium and the European Parliament, or explore the bohemian charm of the Saint-Gilles neighborhood. The metro system is an efficient and reliable way to navigate the city, and the hotel’s proximity to the train station makes it a breeze to embark on adventures.
In addition, the Brussels-Nord train station is just a few blocks north of the Hotel Indigo, allowing access to the entire Belgium intercity train system. We used this station when we went to Bruges for the dayโarriving just minutes before the train departed and then sitting back and enjoying the 1 hour and 10-minute train ride to Bruges. No transfers were required!
