We have been on the lookout for fun outdoor adventures within driving distance of our house where we can enjoy the sunshine and fresh air while social distancing! And based on conversations I have had with friends and family I know many of you are probably thinking along the same lines. I think in the coming year, as we navigate this pandemic, people will be looking for fun in their own backyards and today I wanted to share something new and exciting with you guys.
Our new friends at Paradise Adventures PCB just added clear kayaks from Crystal Kayaks to their inventory of watersports. These are available to rent at their new and improved dockside location at the Sheraton Panama City Beach Golf and Spa Resort and you can take them out into their gorgeous lagoon rich with hermit crabs, seashells, birds, and more. At only $25 per hour, these single or double kayaks are a great inexpensive activity that the whole family can enjoy.
You can reserve yours in advance by clicking here or feel free to walk up and ask about availability. And, in addition to offering the Crystal Kayaks, they have Stand Up Paddleboards, Waverunners, Pontoon Boats, and more at this location, as well as a 40ft Catamaran offering breathtaking sunset cruises and daytime dolphin watching and snorkeling tours.
On Saturday we had a chance to take them for a maiden voyage and all four of us had a great time! The water is shallow in the lagoon which allows you to cruise directly over hundreds of hermit crabs. We also saw some starfish and loads of sand crabs. The lagoon is also home to some beautiful birds. I want to say they are Heron but only because Jake tells me that’s what they are and I really have no idea. They were so fun to watch as they glided over the Mullet jumping and seconds later kept ever so still waiting for their next meal to swim past.
Paradise Adventures also has a 52ft catamaran that sails out of Pirates Cove Marina on the other side of the Grand Lagoon near St. Andrews State Park.
So, if you are local or can make a day trip to the Panama City Beach area make sure to check out these fun new kayaks, and, as it’s our new norm, please be a considerate visitor. Wash hands. Spread out. Support small businesses and show grace to one another.
Here are some photos of our outing!
