Yesterday we celebrated Abby’s 10th birthday!
Gone are the days of over the top theme parties (like her Frozen party in 2014). This year when we were planning decor she said she just wanted black with a little purple. She wanted some balloons and we went and grabbed a cake at the grocery store that morning.
But, I needed something for the kids to do! We came up with the idea of having a photo scavenger hunt with our Fujifilm INSTAX mini camera and I am thrilled with how it came together!
You obviously need a camera. We have two INSTAX minis so I did it with two teams but you could easily do it as one big group if you only have one.
That morning Matt and I walked around the cul du sac and found our “clues”. Some were just letters on a sign, others were things they had to do together or collect, some required both teams to work together and others involved asking people questions. I made up two lists hoping that if the first round went well we could do it again.
First, I split them into teams. Then I choose a photographer for each team hoping to avoid fighting over who gets to use the camera. We handed them the lists and they were off. It took about 20 minutes and was super exciting! We took a cake break and then regrouped teams and did it again!
And at the last minute I told them that each photo has to have a person in the image with the item which then yielded us 40 candid and fun photos for us to put into a photo album for Abby!
(tip: this value pack of film gives you 60 images for $30 which really reduces the cost vs a regular twin pack.
This was an easy and fun activity that is great for these tween and teenage years that I felt like I needed to share! It would be great for team building too!
Would your kids enjoy this?
