Yesterday we took Matt’s new Metal Detector our to the desert behind our house and began our quest for gold. The kids and Matt have been so excited waiting for it to arrive and studying up on all things prospecting. The weather has been fantastic and hit right at 70 degrees yesterday. The sunshine takes me happy but man that wind is something fierce.
You know, when I was growing up my Dad always had his metal detector. We camped often and all thoughout Washington State and the PNW. He mainly liked to look for old coins and I remembered the excitement when one was unearthed. The anticipation felt while cleaning it up and figuring out just how old it was. And finding countless bottletops. It’s funny how life is. How full circle things seem to go.
The quickly fell into routine and Matt hovered his Gold Bug over the earth listening for beeps. When we got one Abby got down there with her pick axe and chiseled away. They would scoop out rock and filter it out until they found what they are looking for. Abby found a dime. 🙂 And Matt found a couple silver nuggets! Sweet Jake just climbed from rock to rock. He is self proclaimed Mountaineer and apparently “leveled up” yesterday to a level 2. I love him!
I like to just watch and I enjoy taking photos of them while they do it. The change in scenery still has me in awe. And when they wear something colorful I just love how it pops against the desert landscape.
// And how perfect is Abby’s new Gunner and Lux Ghost Cactus necklace? I love it! She is wearing a Little Skye Exclusive Paperwings outfit and Native Jefferson shoes. Jake is in an older Kid + Kind tee and Bobo Choses sweats. //
