Another year, another party. Those of you who have been following for a long time know that I like to plan a party. I love inviting people into our home and of course any reason to celebrate. And what better occasion than my sweet child turning 6! You can read all of my sappy thoughts on her turning six here.
This year was a little different for me. In a happy and sad way. In a ‘make new friends but keep the old, one is silver and the other gold’ kind of way. With Matt’s career we seem to move every 2-3 years. So, of course our guest list always has to adjust too. In fact not a single person overlapped from last year’s Frozen Party to this year’s Lalaloopsy party. And no body from either of those attended her 2nd birthday pajama party. As we sent out invitations and started to plan I always get a little sappy remembering all of the great friends that we have made and in turn had to leave over the past 6 years. But happy that we get the chance to come across so many new people along the way and new friends to celebrate these milestones with.
In the past we have always done afternoon/evening parties and invited entire families. Enjoyed cocktails, cookouts, games and movies! It was my favorite party each year! And I am happy for those memories. But, in true grade school fashion we opted for a traditional 10:30-12:00 party this year. Abby choose the theme – Lalaloopsy – early and basically ironed out the details herself. Seriously, that girl can whip up an Amazon shopping cart just about as fast as I can these days. We invited all of the girls in her class and some friends from the neighborhood. We just let them play, eat sweets and play some more! Abby had a blast! And I am so glad that we got to do a the Lalaloopsy theme. It’s been her thing for years now and all that she really plays with so I feel like it really encompasses her childhood and will bring back great memories when looking back at these photos.
We wrapped up the day with our favorite family tradition… releasing our birthday balloons at sunset!
And one of the downsides of a 10:30am party vs an afternoon one is that I hardly had any time to get pictures of everything. oops!
