I am absolutely heartbroken.
We lost a family friend this weekend. My heart purely aches for my friend Amy and her three beautiful children who lost a loving husband and terrific father. Life has proven to be precious and his was cut way too short after a tragic accident at a local lake this weekend. We are in absolute shock and this family needs all the love and prayer that they can get right now.
Mark Selbee was larger than life and in the time that we have known him has lit up every room. He always had a great story. Always made you feel like you were his best friend. He had endless energy. He absolutely adored his beautiful family. The funny thing is that a few weeks ago at Church we were told to think about what kind of people that we want our kids to be when they leave the nest at age 18. We both said that we hope they had that rare charisma that Mark Selbee had. Magnetic. Confident and with a contagious energy. That they could energize a room like Mark and always make everyone feel special the way he did. I was in awe at what a great dad he was. He took three little kids out to breakfast by himself every weekend unasked so that Amy could catch her breath. Seriously, I was a little jealous of that. He invited you over for pizza and then served you delicious food and drink like you were the Queen of England. You could tell how enamored he was with Amy and fathering these three children.
I know that he will be missed by so many around the world and truly was one of a kind. I only wish we would have known him longer.
Please take a minute to pray for sweet Amy, Easton, Ellie Brooke and Hudson. Unimaginable doesn’t even begin to describe this and I can only hope that the God, family, friends and strangers can wrap them in love as they heal.
There are two funds set up to help Amy and the children. Both go directly to her and I can personally endorse each of them. The first was started by her best friend and accepts credit cards. The second was set up (to accept Paypal was well) by a group of moms and great friends who met online through the love of Matilda Jane clothing. That’s how I met Amy before she moved to Kansas and ironically we then realized out that our paths crossed years before back in Bloomington, Illinois as she was planning her and Mark’s wedding. Crazy how life works.

♥ Do me a favor. Give a little to this family. Pray hard for them to find courage and peace. And live your life to the fullest. Just like Mark did. You could listen to him tell stories about places he went and things he did for days on end and never leave the edge of your seat.
