Hey friends! ย So, there was a little confusion with my starting a new blog and leaving behind NewDayNewDeals. ย I want to clarify…
I’m still shopping.
I love shopping! ย The new blog will still have some shopping aspect to it but I want it to be more about actual shopping. ย Not just buying. ย I felt like the deals were getting out of control. ย It felt toxic. ย It was excess. ย Greedy. ย Entitled. ย People (myself included) were just buying buying buying all the time. ย It totally took the fun out of shopping! ย I want to focus on shopping for things that I love for the kids but also for myself and my home. ย This includes things that are full price as well as on sale.
Here are my thoughts:
ย I love sales. ย There is a time and a place for them at the end of the season or over holidays, etc. ย Sales are fun to shop and grab things that you didn’t get during the regular season or grab the next size in something you know you love.
I think I hate deals. ย Deals are the seemingly urgent, impulsive and often excess purchases. ย Years ago a deal was a fun occasional find. ย These days it’s like DEALS, DEALS EVERYWHERE. ย In your email. ย Your Facebook. ย Your mailbox. ย With these deals came such a crazy emotional spectrum. ย People got a high when they snagged a bunch of stuff. ย A big low when they missed something they can’t live without. ย (PS If you can’t live without it then you should probably buy it full price) ย Then followed with guilt when it arrives or heaven forbid your order get cancelled. ย It just felt out of control. ย It was bringing me down on a daily basis. ย ย There seemed to be zero respect in the deal world for companies that were getting taken advantage of.
I remember cringing so bad when last Fall an employee only promo code got leaked for Aden & Anais. ย People were posting it and sharing it anywhere and everywhere with no second thought about where it came from or that maybe it wasn’t meant for them. ย When Aden & Anais cancelled orders people were leaving some jaw dropping posts on their Facebook wall. ย Others were demanding they ‘do the right thing’ and ship their orders. ย I was appalled at the entitled behavior that I saw. ย I never want to be a part of unethical or entitled shopping. ย This hunt for ‘promo codes’ is just crazy. ย I was overwhelmed with hundreds of people asking me for ‘codes’ each week. ย I only post codes that a company gave me directly though their affiliate program, email list or social media. ย Ones intended for me to share. ย A promo code is just that. ย A promotion. ย If a company is giving you a code they will email it to you, post it to social media, have it posted on their site or distribute it through an affiliate. ย If you have to literally ‘hunt’ for a code then it probably isn’t intended for you in the first place. ย And don’t get me started on the blatant taking advantage of website glitches in pricing and then whining when your order gets cancels or oversells. ย <ok, rant over>
So, that’s it. ย I am shopping. ย Our Little Life Style will share things that I am buying or bought as well as some sales that I shop. ย But I needed to get away (and get away FAST) from this deal world.
The wasted sense of urgency surrounding them was just something that I didn’t want to be a part of anymore. ย No one ย is entitled to a good deal. ย Buy what you love and love what you buy.
I mean ask yourself this.
Would you rather pay full price for something that you love or half price for something that you don’t?
ย Remember, that it is all about balance!
And PS: How cute is Jake?!?

I don’t think anyone could of said it any better!
I understand what you mean- sometimes I get wrapped up in the thrill of purchase- and I’d prefer to just buy the things I love– it’s not always easy ๐
