Why do I see so many moms entirely focused and splurging on their children but not on themselves?
Having been heavily involved in the children’s fashion word and many niche shopping groups on Facebook I continually see moms putting all of their efforts into their children. ย It seems more often the norm than the exception too! ย You would be shocked at how many times that I see people casually say that they validate splurging on children but have trouble buying themselves a nice pair of jeans or a name brand handbag.
What gives?
I know that kids are continually growing so we are constantly shopping for them but as grown women we are able to make purchases that we can keep for years to come. ย OurLittleLifeStyle is all about moderation. You can enjoy shopping for your kids but make sure that you are doing it for yourself too. ย Go have fun and shop! ย Find your style. ย Try things on. ย Find a new pair of jeans that you love. ย Get a handbag that you can carry with confidence. ย And I know every house hold is different and of course go with what you can afford. ย But seriously, if you are buying your 4 year old $60 dresses and $40 tank tops you can buy yourself a nice pair of jeans, some wedges and some Tory Burch.
This also goes for our soul and our bodies. ย The kids are caught in a revolving door of sports and activities to nurture and improve their bodies and mind. ย I hope that you all can challenge yourselves too. ย Read a book. ย Go to the gym. ย Find a hobby. ย Watch a show. ย Learn a craft. ย Just stay on your a-game. ย Be sharp. ย Be in the know. ย You would be surprised at how difficult some women find it to have a current events or dinner conversation when their entire world is wrapped up in their children’s interests and possessions. ย You know that these kids learn most by example. ย You can teach them self respect and self worth all day long but if you don’t see yourself as worthy they definitely take notice.
And what actually saddens me more is that it’s not only that moms aren’t challenging themselves but they are often letting themselves go. ย And not Elsa style. ย They are a slave to the daily rut. ย Trust me ladies. ย When you look good – you feel good. ย Take care of yourselves. ย Get a haircut. ย Make that overdue dentist appointment. ย Ditch the yoga pants (I don’t even care if they are Lululemon) and style yourself up for a day of errands. ย Have fun with you!
You are a priority.
Seriously. ย I’m going to leave you with this scenario:
Your kids are all decked out. ย People can’t help but notice them. ย Which means they notice you (the hot mess). ย Do they think ย ‘wow, look at those kids, that mom sure knows how to shop’? ย NOPE. ย They assume you are the nanny.
And that message ^^^ is one that you need to print off and tape to your mirror. ย Pin it. Set as the background of your phone. ย Frame it in your kitchen. ย Keep it in the forefront of your mind daily. ย Be proud of yourself for taking time to care about yourself!
Preach. I think balance is always key! ๐
love it! I am too selfish to forget about myself, but I love this post!!!
