So…. remember how you used to set your away message back in AOL Instant Messenger? You had to let people know that you were AFK (away from keyboard). Because of course that was like the original status update. I have been meaning to do that for about two months. To check in and say… just so you know I don’t really have anything fun to blog about so I am neglecting my blog. Or to let you know how busy I am doing other things. Maybe that I am checking out for a bit. But it’s not even that. I have been very active as always on my @OurLittleLifestyle Instagram and our my @SarahBlevinsPhotography Instagram pages. And I always post what we are up to on my personal Facebook page. And this Fall my photography business (www.SarahBlevinsPhotography.com) has absolutely taken off, so I am posting over there on the Sarah Blevins Photography Facebook page. And somewhere along the way this one has gotten the back burner. I think it’s because I fear redundancy. I mean on how many different avenues do people care to see what Jake wore today or Abby’s new nail polish, right? But then I remember why I started this one. It’s like a journal.
So, as more time passes I kept thinking… great, now I have to think up some big post to announce my return. So, I avoided it even more. It’s funny. I do this with texts and voicemails too. It’s like the longer they sit on my “to do” list the more epic that they become. It’s all mental and kind of funny.
But here I am. I want to work in time to write this year because it is really therapeutic to me and challenges me to express things. Things that weigh on my mind, fleeting things that make me happy, what we are up to, things that I love.
So, yeah.. about November and December. We went on a nice long vacation, the kids are doing amazing. I turned 34. Christmas was magical. Jake rang in the new year at the Children’s Hospital. And I probably lost the same five pounds 3 or 4 times.
And that’s it. I have lots of posts written in my head and can’t wait to put them onto (virtual) paper. But until them… my status is set to online.
