Man. ย I am not sure what is up with my writers block. ย Of course I am my own biggest critic and maybe I guess I have a hard time deciding what is special enough to write about. ย But it turns out that basically everything is. ย So… let me tell you about
that day we took the kids to the Art Museum.
I was literally shocked when out of the blue yesterday morning Matt said, “let’s take the kids to the art museum.” ย Once I picked my jaw up off the floor I had to ask him if he knew our kids. ย The bulls. ย How would they do in that china shop? ย But, I didn’t. ย I was intrigued. ย Why the Art Museum?
It turns out that Matt’s parents took him there often as a kid and while he didn’t really appreciate it back then it has become a very solid memory for him as an adult. ย He wanted to expose our rugrats to the world of Art. ย It’s true. ย Abby want’s to be an artist. ย Why not go take in some Picasso!?! ย Consider me down.
So, we got ready and headed out. ย We have all been feeling a little under the weather with the seasonal change but we made it out the door almost quicker than normal. A short 30 minutes later we found some parking and piled out. ย I forgot how beautiful Forest Park was. ย Saint Louis is so beautiful in the Fall!
The day was overcast and it was a touch brisk. ย Young men flying planes over the lawn while their dogs chased them. ย A couple of dudes had drones. ย Crazy to see them up close. ย We soaked it all in and then went inside.
As the greeter welcomed us Abby was zoned out until she heard the word Scavenger Hunt. ย So, as the most competitive child alive, she put on her game face and mapped out her course. ย We went downstairs. ย And PAUSE. ย We see food. ย Everyone is suddenly dying of hunger. ย Something fierce that only a $6 cupcake could solve. By the time we got to the counter we had ordered up a smorgasbord to the tune of $50. ย My only regret of the day was that I passed up the Bloody Marys. ย Little did I know that just one would have taken the edge of the rest of the day with Jake.
Yes, Jake. ย As we wiped our faces and started out I could see the sugar racing through his veins. ย We are in trouble.
But we survived. ย We walked around and I actually really appreciated the art as an adult. ย I guess that it fit into my new love of artistry, photography and creativity. ย After being trapped in my right brain for 33 years… it’s very refreshing. ย I want to go back soon. ย Just without kids. ย And with the Bloody Mary.
Abby found all six items. ย Jake crashed by 3pm. ย We had a nice quiet drive home. ย And on the way home Matt said “sorry, I should have known better.” And I just laughed. ย It was fun. ย I mean no matter where we took them we would have had to handcuff ourselves to Jake and listen to Abby boss us around all day. ย Might as well do it next some Picasso.
Awesome! Great pics ๐ What type of camera/lens are you using?
